My thoughts: Fake Make up

I don't mean for this to be a rant-like style post and apologies if it does sound slightly. There's something that's been bugging me for a few days and I feel that I need to speak about it. It is as the title of the post suggests is fake make up. I thought about doing a video on this topic on my youtube channel - but I thought no - it is best for me to get my thoughts down in a post.

So what brought me to write about this post? On Monday I was browsing on my phone (yes Facebook) and it came up in my news feed about a friend of mine liking some photo and commenting on it. So being the curious George I clicked in to see the photo (stalker mode I'm fully aware of this), and it was a photo relating to a competition. I'm all for competitions I won The Balm's "How 'bout them apples?" palette before on Facebook from Cloud 10. But in this photo that my friend that liked etc, had a photo of make up that had MAC branded all over it.

Wish List | What I'm lusting after

It's short and simple. They are not needs, they are wants. Well maybe the Magic Cream is a need (I'm convincing myself it is!)

  1. The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer. This champagne highlight, although I may have a similar dupe for it from a 2011 MAC collection Chez Chez Lame (You can see it in action here) Is it really a dupe though? From looking at other swatches of both online they seem quite similar but can Mary-Lou Manizer a little bit more finely milled? This is something I know I can miss out on, but I don't think I should.
  2. NARS Creamy Concealer. I've become a concealer addict lately. I feel I don't always have to go for high coverage foundations and just go in with the concealer in the areas that I need it in. I'm a victim of reading as soon as someone raves about a product I just want to try it out. I've finished my collection lasting perfection concealer and I've about a quarter of a bottle left of my MAC Pro Longwear concealer. My concealer love affair must continue!
  3. Real Techniques Nic's Picks. I'm rather looking forward to seeing these in shops. I'm a huge fan (as well as every other make up lover) of these brushes. The quality is unbelievable and they are soo cheap compared to other brands. There are so many make up artists that use the Real Techniques brushes - they are popping up everywhere.
  4. Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte's Magic Cream. This infamous cream from the iconic make up artist Charlotte Tilbury. For years she's been known in the fashion and make up world for her "magic cream". It's a formula that Charlotte has been mixing for years and she's been using on models for over 20 years. It has anti-aging properties and skin boosting loveliness. It's been raved about from everyone that's tried it and well I just need to know what the hype is all about. With it having an SPF 15 (something I find I tend to use a lot of moisturizers without SPF, it's not intentional - I just realize  after I'm half way through the bottle), it's one less step for me, as over the summer I got in the habit of adding an extra SPF over my moisturizer before my make up. Retailing at €90 is very expensive for a moisturizer, but is it more than just a moisturizer? This is something I might have to wait till Santa comes.

I'm torn | Cleansing Brushes

There's been a huge hype about cleansing brushes. I first got my manual brush from a friend (from the Body Shop) as part of a gift for Christmas many moons ago. First I didn't know much about it, but she raved on about how deadly it was. It was one of those things that I used "every so often" when I first got it but then I really got into using it as part of my routine.

What's in my make up bag? | Work Edition

What's in my make up bag work edition

I always find it fascinating to see what people take in their make up bags for on the go. It gives a good idea of what kind of skin they have and what they may need to rely on more. My make up bag for work and to be honest for most daily use doesn't really change too often. Normally a lippie and a face powder. So what do I carry around in mine?

Review: Dior Show New Look Mascara

Dior diorshow mascara

I've heard and read so many wonderful things about Dior mascaras. Dior for me is that one brand that screams luxury and expensive. Sooo Hollywood!

Before Christmas I decided to treat myself to a nice "fancy" mascara so I picked this up. I've completely forgot how much it cost, but according to Sephora.fr it retails for €31.50 - link.

Products I regret NOT buying

I've seen many people compose "wish lists" on their blogs. But I've yet to find a "I wish I got" post. Therefore I thought I'd get the ball rolling. This is mainly in relation to limited edition products, as when they are gone they are gone.

If you follow me on twitter you might have noticed me tweeting about a certain NARS product. It's gotten to the point where I'm searching for blog sales that contains it to buy it.

It is the NARS Guy Bourdin One Night Stand. The below photo's are from Adrienne's from The Sunday Girl blog post on the product review.

Get the look: Naomi Watts 2014 Golden Globes

The step-by-step of her Golden Globes look straight from celebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff.

Naomi’s drop-dead gorgeous Tom Ford gown—with its delicate oyster gold and chains in the back—has a tough, über-chic, polished effect,” says celebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff, who prepped the actress for the big night. “Because her dress is so sleek, I wanted her makeup to be too, but without any heaviness.”
