Fake Make Up: The Naked Truth

real or fake urban decay naked 2

Last week a friend mentioned  news of a mutual friend's purchase of Urban Decay Naked 2 for under €30. We suspected it might be fake and on a night shift we asked her to bring her new palette along. The below photo's are comparing her palette to my palette. It wasn't so obvious when we first seen the palette.

Review: Fuschia Try Me Kit

fuschia try me kit in bare

In the past I've tried L'oreal's mineral powder make up -link . For me, I felt it was slightly cakey. Maybe it was the amount I put on but I've not worn mineral make up since at least 2006. So yes, it's been a while.

I first heard of Fuschia make up through a friend of a friend and because I was never in Drogheda I never got to pop into the shop to purchase some goodies to try out. When they came to Swords which is much easier for me to get to it was an easy option to just "pop in". So before a lunch date with some friends I popped in with a friend who was a make up addict too, "just for a browse".

Pembroke Hotel Kilkenny

Back in June I bought a groupon deal for a stay in the Pembroke Hotel in Kilkenny, which included a voucher for €40 towards a meal all for €89 with breakfast and a late check-out. Bargain! Terms and conditions? Had to be used midweek, valid till the end of September and it couldn't be used in July or August (poo!), so last week we popped on down.

Review: Vichy Dermablend Corrective Cream Stick

I've heard so much about this product. It has so much hype online especially on youtube from the amazing guru's which I follow. It was something although I know I don't need as my skin doesn't need that kind of coverage (full). But when presented with the opportunity in McCabes Pharmacy to swatch it ....well I felt weak at the knees and suddenly my purse was - €22 lighter. (Like magic?!)

Review: John Frieda Luxurious Volume Fine to Full Blow Out Spray

Okay first a little background story on my gruaig (hair to you non irish folk!)

I'm not great at blow drying my hair. To be honest it's one of the hair routines that just bores the hell out of me. It doesn't help I find my hair looks like less "umph" if I don't use my Babyliss Big Hair. A friend of mine has gone through 3 babyliss big hairs in the past, so I tend to keep mine  for special occasions (I know how silly to think this). I tend to get the most volume when I leave to dry aul naturale.

Post: 7 tips for growing your hair
When I was younger I used to have such thick hair - in fact really thick! But I've noticed in the last few years it has thinned out a lot. I thought it was when I was in the hair dressers and kept getting my hair thinned out, so I asked the stylist to stop this and I started growing out my layers. Although this did help it wasn't a good look for me...

Review: Collection Colour PRO Lip Lacquer 04 Prom Queen

When I first seen this, I will admit I got a little excited! "INTENSE" really stuck out to me. I was in Tesco with my boyfriend in Scotland and for a pound or two I picked up the shade "04 Prom Queen".

Review: Max Factor False Lash Effect Clump Defy Mascara

I picked this mascara up a few weeks ago in Boots as I went through my collection of mascaras and discovered some just needed to be thrown out. Mascara is only meant to be used within 3 months of opening, but I'm sure I'm not alone in keeping mascara for a lot longer! Especially high-end mascaras!!

I loved Max Factor's False Lash effect in the past, but when Max Factor brough this one out I thought to myself, could it be that much better?

Oh boy, is it good...

By accident I bought the mascara in brown/black.

Clinique: Instant Brow Lift vs. SuperFine Liner for Brows

I've been using my shadows less and less for filling in my brows. Instead I've been sticking to my clinique instant brow lift pencil in soft brown to define my brows. If you've never used it before it's a double ended pencil that has the brow definer shade on one end and a highlight on the other end. I'm on my second pencil as the first one lasted me ages as I went through phases of it. My second pencil I'm just addicted to using, so much so that I feel like I'm going through it really quickly! So I thought why don't I try out the other clinique pencil as I'm sure you'd get more product for defining your brows in it.

Review: Neal's Yard Remedies Beauty Sleep Concentrate

Neals Yard Remedies Night Cream Beauty Sleep

Neal's Yard Remedies is something that I didn't hear a whole lot about. Maybe it was something I've seen in shops but I was never tempted to try this out. I got this a few months ago and I've been using it regulary as part of my night time routine - link ( instead of my Botanics Night Cream!).

Review: Shu Uemura Lash Curlers

For the longest time I never curled my lashes. I didn't realise the impact of doing it. When I was a child I once trimmed my lashes, thankfully they grew back. Unfortunately I've one eye that has curly lashes and one eye with not so curly lashes. Weird huh?

Anyway, I have not started to curl my lashes as part of my routine. I find it makes my eyes look more awake and alert. It also makes my lashes look much bigger I think!

why you should curl your lashes

My preference for curling my lashes is the much talked about Shu Uemura lash curlers.

Review: La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Invisible Nutritive Oil SPF50+

La Roche Posay Anthelios XL spf 50
€17.20 (Purchased in a french pharmacy!)

The past week we've been really lucky with the weather. At one stage when I got into my car it was a scorching 35C! I'm not one for worshipping the sun, but when I'm out in it I like to protect myself. On a recent trip to Nice with some of the girls I brought along with me my Clinique SPF 40 body cream that I got in work over a year ago with a discount (I can't remember the exact price). This was my first time to use this cream which was quite thick and very "white" as it transferred to some of my clothing, which is a pain in the arse!

Review: L'Oréal True Match Foundation

L'Oreal True Match #foundation #BBloggers #MadamesMadeUp #irishbbloggers #loreal

Back in September of last year I picked this up in the States. I had only tried out their mineral foundation (loose powder) and their pressed powder from the True Match section and I've loved each one. So hearing Kandee Johnson go on about how much she loves this foundation was no surprise that I wanted to try this out.

Review: Estée Lauder Maximum Cover Foundation

I love this Estee Lauder Maximum Cover Foundation I use it as a concealer more than a foundation! #foundation #BBloggers #MadamesMadeUp #Concealer
Estée Lauder Maximum Cover Foundation
Shade: Light, 30mls
I received this foundation from my friend who was having trouble with using it and just didn't like the look when applied so she gave me this a good while ago to try out (as I'm sure you've guessed from the old packaging!) The shade I have is in light.

The forumla is quite thick but it speads quite easily. This can be used on the face and body. The first time I used it I tried it out with a foundation brush but it was far too heavy for my liking. Well it is a maximum coverage foundation. On my whole face it was too much. So I tried it with my fingers and I much prefer the result, however it's still a little too heavy and it just wipes out my freckles on my face!

My ultimate preference for this is to use it as a concealer. I tend to keep this for blemishes mainly on my chin that have a high pigmentation and I need a longwear out of my make up look. Especially for working 12 hour shifts!

Make up look of the day :-) #fotd #BBloggers #irishbbloggers I just started reusing Estee Lauder maximum cover foundation for concealer I forgot how much I love it ♥
Foundation: Rimmel Match Perfection, 100 Ivory

Mascara: Maybelline Rocket Mascara
Liquid liner: L'oreal super liner perfect slim
Lip Stain:17 Lip stain Berry Crush
Gloss: MAC Cremesheen Glass, Colour stauration
Face powder: MAC MSF, Light
I haven't used this in a while, but after I came back from a girlie holiday from the south of France that inculded lots of wine my skin was in bits so this is working wonders. I don't normally use this in my day-to-day routine but I'm just loving it at the mo!

The best part? It lasts the whole 12 hours. I set it with a little powder and I don't need to touch up!

Review: Lush UltraBland Cleanser

Since I fell in love with their moisturiser "Celestial" - link, I was eager to try out more of lushes skin care products. What better than to try out a new cleanser. I got myself a small little pot (45g) to try out. The above image is from lushes website but the product is a pale yellow in the tub.

I've really gotten into using cleansers that you wash off with a warm cloth. This formula is quite oily and has a very strong beeswax scent to it. My first attempt at using this was to remove make up. For me, I hated the texture. It felt more greasey than oily, the smell did put me off. But the biggest shame was that it didn't remove eye make up that well. To use this in my night time routine I first must remove my eye make up with my bio derma, and continue on to this step. My preferance is to use this product in the morning, using only a very small amount. When using at night time I have to use it twice to make sure I'm really clean faced.

After my skin does feel clean, but I think I prefer a hot cloth cleanser like from the scanturary or soap and glory which is a bit more creamy based or something like Johnson's cream wash - link for night time routine, as the oily texture is slightly off putting. But the product does work at cleaning your face.

This is one of Lushes top products, although I may not like the texture of this product, it might work for someone else.

Remember keep your empty lush pots, as 5 empty pots = 1 free face mask!

Discontinued: Benefit 10

Benefit is giving 10 the chop!

benefit 10 discontinued

How dishearting is it when brands start discontinuing  products? I read on benefit's irish twitter that they are discontinuing 10.

benefit irish twitter 10 discontinued
Am I the only person who slow down using a product once I hear of it being discontinued and especially if I've hit pan, I want to preserve it and not use it as much. The boxed powders from benefit are fantastic. I don't know anyone that isn't a fan of them. So if you love this product, and don't want it to go away just yet...pop along to a benefit counter and stock up or buy a spare one!

Sure what does this mean?? Well they could just be bringing out an even more amazing product in the future! EEkkk!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Review: Lush Celestial Facial Moisturiser

For the past 5 months I've been using this product and I now feel confident enough to tell you all what I think of it.

I first received this as part of my Christmas present from a very good friend of mine who loves Lush products. I've never tried any of their skin care before so I was very curious when I opened my first tub at the start of this year.

LUSH Celestial Facial Moisturiser
It comes in Lushs famous little black tubs (bring 5 back for a free face mask!). It is aimed for those with sensitive skin. It has a balm-like texture and a little goes a long way! It's made with almonds, but doesn't have an over powering almond fragrance which I'm rather happy about, infact it's a delicate slightly vanilla scent to it, that is barely noticeable. The fragrances are from the natural ingredients and are not added just to make it nice and smelly. 5 months in and I still love it.

How is it under make up? I've no problem with it! The cream smoothes on and absorbs easily into my normally dry skin. I have been pairing it with my soap and glory serum - link but I've been out of it for 2 weeks and I haven't replaced it yet. I'm going to buy another one... I was thinking of trying out something new but I'd rather stick to something that my face seems to be liking :)

Since using this I've branched out into trying more Lush products (keep an eye out!) and I'm now on my second pot of moisturiser with a third from a birthday present sitting in the drawer.

What moisturiser are you using right now? Have you tried Lush skin care before? What should I keep an eye out for?

Thanks for stopping by :)

My Night Time Routine

I thought I'd share with you my night time skin care routine.

For cleansing I like to use Bio Derma to remove my eye make up and I sometimes use this to remove my foundation. This quickly and easily dissolves my make up whether it's just a bit of mascara or a full on face of make up with a smokey eye, it cuts down my routine quickly compared to other make up remover products I've used in the past.

To remove the rest of my make up that might be left behind and cleanse my skin I'm currently using my No7 gel cleanser from my goodies that I won ages ago - link & link. Ever since I first used Johnsons cream wash - link, I love using cleansers that you have to wash off. I have a Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser that I haven't even opened at home but I wanted to use up the products I have first, before I open up and start trying out other products. I probably will do a review on it. (so watch this space!)

Now on to moisturising my skin. I've done reviews on the below products (all but one - which I will do on the Botanics All Bright night cream

night time routine
After cleasning my skin I use Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum you can read my review here - link. I bring it down my neck and sometimes I smooth a small bit over my hands for an added treatment.

Next up is my eye cream. I'm currently loving Soap & Glory's Make Yourself Youthful eye cream. You can read my review here - link Using my ring finger I pat this on to the delicate skin around the eye area. Following this with Boots Botanics Hydrating Night Cream "All Bright". (Review coming soon!)

I finish off with my lips and hands. I apply some Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream to my lips my last post was a review on it but here's the review - link I squeeze out a smaller than pea sized amount on to my finger tip and smear it on to my lips. I have a tin of this stuff by my bed side so I've no excuse to not use it!

I give my hands some added moisture with Soap & Glory's Hand Food review - link I love this stuff. My hands have been super dry lately I'm beinging to think it's my liquid soap pump I use at home and the cheap stuff in work. I might have to start using something a little more kind to my skin at home at least!

Are any of these part of your night routine? What do you use?

Thanks for stopping by :)
